Inca Trail 4D

We will make a journey of 40 kilometers until we arrive at the biggest legacy that the Incas had left behind, which is Machu Picchu. This journey is the climax of the trip, where during the journey we will observe beautiful landscapes, mountains, clouds, vegetation, snow, streams, rivers, archaeological sites, etc. The trek is difficult. Upon reaching the end of the hike, you will be recompensed with the impressive view of Machu Picchu for the first time, getting a chance to view it from the terrace and get the satisfaction of having been a tourist that had gone over a part of the Inca Trail. This route is a classic tour to Machupicchu and is considered one of the 10 best treks in the world.

The Inca Trail has a trail of 40 kilometers in length, which is a small part of the great rocky highway, which makes up the network trail system of Tahuantinsuyo that was used during the Inca Empire. As a consequence of its apogee, where its expansion surpassed the 36000 kilometers, connecting Qosqo (Cusco), capital of Tahuantinsuyo to the Pacific Ocean, Quito, Tucuman and the Maule River. Actually this network is referred to as Qhapaq Ñan. During the 16th century, they were employed by the Spaniards to invade Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

During the 4 days of the adventure, we will have a professional team of bilingual guides, cooks and porters accompanying us and we will rest in comfortable encampments.

Our final destination is the majestic and mysterious “Machu Picchu”, which surprises the visitors with its incomparable architectonic beauty and its strategic location.

We will begin our journey early on in the morning after picking up all of our travellers to take us to Ollantaytambo, where the people who wish can have breakfast or buy some walking sticks made of bamboo which will help you during the trek. Later on, we will continue to the Km. 82 in Piscacucho (2700 meters above sea level). This is the place where the first checkpoint is located. Then we will begin the trek to Machupicchu. After some 2 hours of walking, we will arrive in Patallacta (2750 meters above sea level), an Inca archaeological site that will be explained to us by our guide. After our visit to this interesting place, we will have lunch prepared by our experienced chef and his team, which will leave us astounded by the food. After lunch we will continue our trek towards our Wayllabamba encampment (3000 meters above sea level), where after a deserved rest, we will have lonche, then dinner, and then we will spend the night there.

We will wake up at around 6:00 in the morning, then we will have breakfast to later begin the trek. We will be able to observe the beautiful and tranquil landscape of the trek, as we feel the change of climate of the puna until we arrive at the highest point of the trail, being at 4,200 meters above sea level. The place is called Warmiwañuscca (dead woman) where we will rest a few minutes. We will then descend down to the middle of the trek where we will have lunch and eat whatever is being served to us there. This is where we will have lunch and continue the trek to the second encampment called Pacaymayo, a place where we will await a succulent dinner. Here is where we will spend the night. The journey to this place will be approximately between 7 or 8 hours.

After breakfast, we will continue our trek which will be full of vegetation and a lot of Inca archaeological sites of different types. The first archaeological site we will be visiting will be Runcurakay (3970 m.a.s.l.) which is another archaeological complex, made up of towers that command a strategic site of vigilance within this valley. Then, we will continue to Chaquicocha where we will have lunch. Afterwards, we will continue to Phuyupatamarka (which means place above the clouds). Along the way, we will pass through a tunnel carved in rock and we will continue onto Wiñayhuayn, another marvelous complex where we will spend the night. The journey will be about 6 hours, full of beautiful landscape, vegetation in Wiñayhuayna. The third encampment will vary depending on the availability at Phuyupatamarca. This option will depend upon the spaces that the INRENA office has authorized. From PHUYUPUTUMARCA, we will walk on to WIÑAYWAYNA for about 3 hours where we will spend the night.

Our wake up time will be very early between 3 or 4 in the morning. After breakfast, this will be our last stretch. First we will arrive at the INTIPUNCU (Sun Gate), the place where we will be able to observe the grandiose and the impressive site of Machu Picchu arriving at around 7 or 8 in the morning. We will have a small break so that we can later enter the sanctuary and get to have our guided tour of about 2 hours. The tourist will have a good amount of time during the duration of the day to be captivated with the beauty and mysteries of Machu Picchu. Then we will have to get off at the town of Aguas Calientes to take the return train back to Cusco, according to the different train times which depend upon the season. Here we will have from around 1:00pm until around 5:00pm in the evening. We will take you back to the town of Ollantaytambo, which is where you will be taken by bus to Cusco.
